I am using JSliders to monitor capacity levels.  I want the slider to fill with color as it moves(ex: from 0-50, color is only filled up to 50.  Is this possible, a method?  or sample program.

You can use JProgressBar which fills up with color as it goes. You can
limit it going to 50 by limiting your ticks to no more than 50.
