I would like to send files via modem (COM2). I use Visual C++ 5.0 under NT4.0. I know how to send chars to RS232. But I never succeed in communicating with the modem.  I have used the informations send from FORGE. But I need more informations like the parameters of the serial port : speed, number of characters, parity, control flux, RTS/CTS or Xon/Xoff... .

find your modem handbook and see what commands it takes and send them to the modem through the serial port.  commands to go online, dial, and so on.
