printer and fax problem with win '98

I am having both fax and printer problems using win '98.
     1.  I am having difficult with printing Pub '97 to my Canon 4200 printer. I have downloaded and installed both drivers from the Canon web page and still no help.  Is there another driver that I don't know about or do I not have something set correct on my computer.
     2.  I can't get the microsoft fax to work.  I go through the wizard and still not able to fax.

None of these problems existed with win '95.  Now that I have win '98, all sort of problems have arisen.  Please help a very frustraded user.   Thanks

Thanks for the help!  That might explain why the fax is not working.
I am still having difficulties printing with my Publisher program.  When I press Print all that prints on the paper is a few lines (or like a bar) across the top of the page.  These bars of color have nothing to do with the page that I am trying to print.
I tried to change the driver in my printer file, but still no luck in printing from Pulisher 97.
Is Windows '98 having problems printing Office 97 programs?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Ooh! I wish you hadn't accepted my answer if I haven't provided a solution... Now your question will be moved to the PAQ category where others won't see it or respond with some ideas...

As for Pub 97, I'm using it and Office 97 in Win98 without any problems. I've got a Canon BJC-210 and an HPLaser 5P. Both work fine, although I am using the Win95 drivers (more options in the properties than the Win98 version and doesn't seem to make a difference with these particular printers).

Can you print from other apps? Does a Printer Test run OK? (Go to the Printers folder in My Computer and RIGHT CLICK on the Canon 4200 icon, select PROPERTIES. On one of the tabs, you should find a Printer Test button.)

Shooting trouble frequently starts with the process of elimination...

Thanks for responding.  Sorry about the procedure.  I'm new at this (as if you couldn't tell).

I ran a Printer Test and a Color Test run.  Both printed just fine (LQ Mode Ver 1.01).

I am able to print from Excel, Word, Works, and even off the internet.  With still no luck from Publisher.

What do you suggest as the next step?

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling Pub97?
