HOW CAN I CREATE .AVI OR .MOV VIDEO FILE FROM .DAT VIDEO FILE.

I want to convert .dat video file to .avi or .mov video format.As from there I will be able to convert it into .ra file format.I had no device like video camera etc. attached with my machine.*.DAT video file cost me about 80-100 MB harddisk space and I want it to take lesser and least space my compress this file and convert it into .ra file format.

You need to get a multimedia program such as Adobe Premiere to be able to create the formats you seek.  Premiere can create AVI's, MOV's, MP3's, and more and converting existing files is a snap.  You can selectively control the compression ratio / vrs quality of the final output (yes the more you compress the lesser the quality) as well as the color depth, movie size, audio controls, frames per second, and more.  It's everything you are looking for.

I know adobe premiere can import AVI, Mov and mpeg, but I can't
export the viedo to mpeg... The avaliable file type are:
AVI, TIFF sequence, TARGA sequence, Quick Time, GIF sequence,
Animated Gif, Film strip, Flc/Fli, and bitmap sequence.

This there some way to save as mpeg but I don't know?
I'm using premiere 5.0 for windows.

You can directly convert *.dat -> *.avi using graphedit from microsoft SDk. You can also using Divx codec (a n expert codect that enabling you to produce 180 minutes (equal to 4 Video CD) in just one CD. To playback the movies, you'll need an Pentium II 400 cmputer powered above or equal
