How can i install Linux from scratch to my computer without losing data ?

Easy you would prefer to use RedHats Linux since you are new...
1) get the cd and read how to make a repartition your H.D without loosing your data
2) enter the /dosutils directory in the redhat cd...and run autoboot
this will start the installation procedure and you will be able to select what you want to be installed, and setup some hardware...once this is ready you can reboot to you linux using the lilo boot prompt end issuing either "dos" (without the "") or just hit enter to boot in Linux...

P.S Don't forget the root password you set during the setup!!!!
