What's the capacity of the Memo-component. If it's restricted and not capable of containing a large file is there an unlimited alternative. I'm not sure but I seem to remember there was a serious limitation in Delphi 1. By the way this question concerns Delphi 3.

TMemo seems to be limited, TRichEdit might be not.

    Try these maybe:

"...large edit control that may edit texts more than 64K..."

"load text files up to 8Mb..."

What I want to know is how big a file the component can hold.

I tried it on my system and it allows exactly 59673 chars which is 59673bytes or 58.2kb

Usually in 32-bit system it is suppose to be around 64kb
