vman,

It sure would appear to heat related, but if you want to know for sure then since you have a smart motherboard a tx chipset has hardware monitors built on to the motherboard, you need a special program that can read the dmi chipset info such as fan speed and cpu, motherboard temp ect.  The program link below will lead you to such a program called hardware monitor
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Haven/7048/

Simply download and extract the program into a folder and then run hwmonitor and monitor the cpu and motherboard temp, and be sure that the fans are working when you first start your system and then after 2 hours and see if the heat is rising alot, maybe you will find that you need to add another fan to the system to help cool it off.

If you require more info or assistance then let me know.

Good Luck

You could damage the cpu and or motherboard with excessive heat,
if allowed to continue. You pc will continue to freeze up and cause problems with windows and such, it is best if you can find the cause of the heat and or install a second fan to combat the heat.

can you download the program below, it can give the temp of cpu and motherboard, we can then know if it overheating or if it is something else.
