Can anyone explain to me why these achor tags in the html below would not work on IE3. I can not figure out the problem, becuase it seemed to work  a week ago and all of sudden decided to stop. I know if works on netscape and ie4.
I also tested other anchors on my version of ie3 and they work fine, just not on the html code below.

Try putting the <A NAME="bla"></A> around actual text like:
<A NAME="bla">&nbsp;</A>
This may help.

Also there is a lot of garbage code in this document.  It's possible that there is some strange error which the garbage code is triggering and causes the side effect you experienced.  Try cleaning up all the garbage.  For example:
<font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" color="#FFFFFF"><font face="Arial,
    Helvetica, sans-serif" color="#FFFFFF"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"
    color="#FFFFFF"><font color="#FFFF80">&nbsp;&nbsp;</font></font><font
    color="#FFFF80">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</font></font>
has no effect except a few spaces.  You could use:
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; to get the same effect.

When you say they don't work, what do you mean? Does the map work? Do the return to top work? Please give more details.

The areas nos 9 and 10 are overlapping
  <area shape="rect" coords="346,272,401,298" href="#edit">

Could this be your problem?

HI,

I tried putting anchor tags around the text, but it does not work still for ie3.   When I mean it does not work, I mean when I try to click on either a link or map that points to an anchor instead of going the place in the page it just stays onthe top.

How your wiki can always stay up-to-date

Quip doubles as a “living” wiki and a project management tool that evolves with your organization. As you finish projects in Quip, the work remains, easily accessible to all team members, new and old.

Does it jump up to the top no matter where you click?  What I mean is when you click on an anchor that links within the page, does it jump up to the top of the document or does it just stay there without moving?
If this is happening, then the link is getting picked up but it doesn't know where to go in the document because it isn't finding an anchor name for that link, or it has two named the same.  Did you try cleaning the code up?  This could make a difference.  Also, does IE 3 even support that kind of map?  I thought you had to use the server side kind of map?  So those links wouldn't work if it didn't support that kind of map.

Just a quick look,
Style Sheets not supported very well in IE3.
2nd, your font element overides the body link color, thefore the link is the same color
as the background.

Hi,

when I click on the link, it jumps up to the top all the time,
but I check all the anchors and there were no repeats.

I tried clean up the code that my editor created for me, but it did not help any.

If it jumps to the top it means that it has read the link but couldn't find the anchor.
