I recently installed OS 8.1 on a 4400/200. Everything looked ok till I rebooted the computer. The happy MAC appeared on the screen there was some HD access and after this nothing happened. No error message but the computer didn`t start to boot. So I tried to reinstall OS 8.1 I put the CD in and restarted the MAC. And what happpened. The Mac started booting from the HD becuase I forgot to press the C key at startup. I can work with OS 8.1 when the installation CD is in. (It must be the installation CD). What can I do to work with OS 8.1 without having the CD in.

Strange OS 8.1 problem

The current Mac product family uses Intel x86-64 processors. All Mac models ship with at least 1 GB RAM as standard. Current Apple hardware includes the iPad, iPhone, iMac, Mac Pro, Macbook, iPod and Apple TV. Discontinued hardware includes the Apple I, Apple II, and the Apple III, the Lisa, the Newton, the Quadra, Performa, Centris, Macintosh II and LC series, the Power Macintosh, iBooks and the MacBook.
