I am using System 8.5 new Navigation API in a new project  which will run fine under 8.5 but will not run under System 8.1. I get a message: "Could not launch MyProgram because the library NavigationLib was not found. I do not make any calls to the Navigation API's until I call NavServicesAvailable(), yet it still won't run. What could I be doing wrong?

You need to set the "import weak" option on the Navigation library.  Assuming you are using CodeWarrior, open your project, select the Navigation library, open the Project Inspector window (under the Windows menu, or use the icon), and select Import Weak.

This lets the program load even if the library is present.  As long as you do not call any library functions (not including NavServicesAvailable), your progrma will run.
