Hey, that's good thinking! Do you have anything specific in mind?

Maybe: general, databases, nets, and blah blah chat?

But I'm not sure that lazy people (like me) will bother to look at all three sections, so the efficiency might drop. Maybe not...
Hi

I think Matvey's right - efficiency might drop.  I've never found a problem with having everything in one Delphi section.

If they had 3 sections similar to VB (Delphi VCL; Delphi and DBs; Delphi General) it might help, but it might make things more complicated (??).  Many questions have a lot of overlap so they might fit into (for example) VCL and DBs.  Also, I would imagine from past experience on Ex-Ex that many VCL questions would be posted in Delphi General which kinda defeats the purpose...

My personal feeling is that (at this stage) it's OK as it is.

Cheers,
JB
Hi,

Perhaps a search engine would be for the common good of all programmers - save a lot of time finding past questions, questions to answer etc....

Splitting is OK as those that are dealing with DB or VCL would be able to quickly focus on that area of interest/needs.

It would be OK, but as Matvey mentioned it would be kinda lazy for most of us moving from one place to another just to see what the other section offers :-||

I think it's fine the way it is!

Hi everybody. I have another sugestion: as JimBob says, some questions might not fit into one category, so to solve this, when someone posts a question, he'll have checkboxes which area this question belongs to, and then it'll be shown in the checked areas, but the question itself will be in just one location.
But this has problems too. What I'd personally do if I had a question, is checking all the checkboxes so everybody will see the question for sure! So I guess it's just a stupid idea...

Another idea:
As Zonnald says, how about turning E-E into a search engine too? It might be a search engine that will use other search engines, that will search the web and the news groups, but it has to be an efficient one. For example: If I want to find documentation about digital audio, I go to AltaVista, and type "+"digital audio" +documentation", but it brings up almost no connected info. It would be just great if there was a specialized angine here or somewhere else that will find just the things connected, filtering for example, by the category (programming, hardware etc.).
Don't ask me how do do this - I hope someone of you knows :D

Hi all...
I don't mean that. I don't suggest to split Delphi area. I want only to take your attention that VB area is very big and very active.

Visual Basic is a dangerous Delphi competitor.

Motaz: Actually Delphi is a dangerous VB competitor.  :)

Within a few months of Delphi 1 there were more than double the number of web sites for Delphi than there were for VB, even though VB was around for several years already!!

1. Very active is good ???

2. I don't think that Delphi and VB are competitor, Delphi is for programmers...

3. The expirience told us that the success of Delphi don't depend on how good is the compiler, Delphi is better than VB, like Borlan's C++ compilers and TASM was and are better than MS compilers and assambler for the las X years, but MS marketing is bigger and aggresive than Borlan's marketing. I hope tha Inprice make the difference.

4. If a subdivision of Delphi section means more organization then I approve, but if mean copy VB-dummy ideas thenI rejected.

5. Thinking well... the VB subdivition means more question or the VB-Users need this kind of organization to find their awnsers...    :-)
