3D card Settings

My computer is a PII 233 MHz computer with 64 megs EDO Ram. I have a 6.4 gig Quantum Fireball, a SB AWE64 value sound card and I have a matrox millenium II and a matrox M3D. I'm currently getting about 19 fps in Quake 2 at 640 by 480 and am looking for ways to speed this up. Any help would be appreciated.

do u have 2 video cards?
when u boot up, watch carefuly if the cards have assigned IRQ's
If so, watch if the IRQ's doesn't conflict between them and with other devices!
In some BIOSes u can set up wether to assign IRQ to VGA or not.
The video cards must have IRQ assigned in order to use Bus Mastering, wich will speed up the display process.
Bus Mastering is disabled if the card have no IRQ or the IRQ conflicts with other.

get rid of the M3D for a start, a 3DFX Voodoo 1 will beat it in any tests at all, that alnoe will give you about 30FPS, if ya want more, get a Voodoo2, you'll get about 75-80FPS.
