Did you hec kyour device Manager on whether the modem is functioning OK?

Can you do a diagnostic on the modem in the Modem Diagonstic under Control Panel?

I suspect that whe nyou upgrade to Win98, somehow, your COM port settings was reallocated by Win98. I think you should check that the correct resources is used back for your modem.

Else, you will have to delete the modem from your Device Manager, reboot the system and redect your modem. Hopefully, this time round the resources are allocated correctly.
