how do i set focus to an app that i just started with the shell sub

Use the MAximized Propety of the Shell command..
bam.. it pop up..

You could also Set the SetWindowPos API call to set it to be the Top Window.

why do i have to put
var=shell(string,vb...)
for it to work and not
shell(string,vb...)
