several 100BaseT Cards which may or may not already come with your G3's (check your specs). A 100BaseT Ethernet Hub with as many ports as needed. Depending on which box you choose for a server get the software to go with it. If a G3 use appleshare IP 6. If the NT i believe it already has the server software built in. Either will do but you may want to use the NT as the macs will be more productive to work on. Oh yeah...enough coils of Ethernet cabling to link the cards to the hub.

Do you know the main threat actor types? Most attackers fall into one of four categories, each with their own favored tactics, techniques, and procedures.

appleshare IP uses tcp/ip so its as fast as you can get. With 8.5 the transfers will be even faster. Use appleshare IP.

If you want the macs to see the PC running NT4 you have to format the hard drive or a partition on the Nt4 box as NTFS and not FAT32.

There are problems using the Apple Share services of NT. I have seen these personally and they are known defects posted on Microsoft's web site.

File attributes will not update their latest modifications but continues to list the date the file was put on the server. This can cause confusion when a group is working on a file they are confused by its date and are unsure if someone else has made changes to that file.

Some files will disappear from Mac clients. These files can be seen by Windows clients. This is a problem that was allegedly fixed with Service Pack 3 but I'm running SP3 and still have this problem.

My comments tain to software and modems network issues.

1.  How does Appleshare differ software like MACLAN / Timbuktoo or Apple Network Assistant?  Is Appleshare a part of the OS?

2.  How are the computers connected to modems ... does that mean that if I'm on a Mac I can have acess to another networked computers modem to dial out?
