I am wondering if anyone has setup a netware connect server and how ya went about it? Does your server have to be completely separate, ie only handling this software? I am running two novell 4.11 servers, would like to install it to one of these. How do I connect the modems up? ? I have a USR MP/8 modem pool. How do I go about connecting this to the network, directly to a hub or should it connect directly to the server? What are all the ports on this modem used for? I know the telco ports are for the phone lines, but what about the EIA-232 Ports, the WAN/Console port, the AUI port, and the UTP port? I have no documentation for this unit only what I have been able to find on 3com's web sight. I am looking for a pretty complete answer on how to set this whole system up.

1) For using USR MP/8 modempool you need also  multiport serial card like Digi's board see http://www.digiboard.com for more information

2) EIA-232 used to connect MP to computers or multiport serial card

3)  Netware Connect may be instaled on existed Netware server or on stand-alone
Netware runtime (included in NWC with more 2 port license) or you may install
runtime Netware from distributive (just skip "Install license options) or you may ask local Novell office for trial 2-user NW

3) Documentation on MP/8 available at http://totalservice.usr.com/
Go to Documentation Library page and search for MP/8 modempool

4) Another way to sharing modempool is using Windows NT RAS instead of Netware Connect. Step-by-step procedures available at
http://www.3com.com/carrier/nsd/products/rapd/mp/win_nt.html

How to setup whole system?
Hmm..
First RTFM (NW connect, Digi, MP)
read related TID (search http://support.novell.com for "Netware Connect Digi"
( for example  TID 667037 NetWare Connect 2.0 Rules of Thumb
and
TID 21569 Netware Connect Installation)

Install Digi board on servers
Install Netware connect
Connect Digi to MP and MP to phone lines
Configure NWC for Digi
Asquire, install, configure NASI compatible software (client side software which can utylize NWconnect, like Symantec pcANYWERE)

aioudine your answer was very good and you get the points. I would appreciate if you could tell me what the UTP and the WAN/Console port on this MP/8 are used for? I would love to RTFM for this thing if I had it! No one here where I work has any idea where it has went to and I call 3Com and they keep telling me because the unit is out of warranty it will cost me $200.00 for any support call which includes getting a new manual!
