Definitions/Explainations

What is NTS??
Also what are stored procedures and what is their use?
Last but not least: Can someone give me a good concept of what a thin-client is all about.

Thanks

Stored Procedures Make Your Server<and your App> faster.

What happens is that you send a Query to the Database.
The database has to take that and see if all the Tables exist and all their formats and see if it can actually do what you want.
This takes time.  It Compiles you Statement.
You will notice that if you run the same statement again.. it runs faster.
What happens also, <unless you tell it not to> is that it saves this compilation.
These are temporary, and will be dropped when you disconnect.
What stored procedures are.. are basically Permanant versions of your temporary compiles.
There are system stored procedures also.. but you didnt create them.

The concept of the thin client. is to get much of the Processing off of the pc's connecting to the database.  Instead of transferring alot of data to the client. and having it process it,<usually required db engines of some sort<ie:JET:DAO> we take advantage of speedy servers <or middleware too> doing the work, and at an ideal, only passing data to show to the user.  In addition to not having to have every pc be very fast.. you wont have to load up the tools required to manipulate the DB.  <memory footprint and appsize is much smaller>
