i have compiled them, and have successfully installed it

How about some more details...
What operating system are you (Win95/Win98/WinNT)?
Can you access Oracle successfully from this machine using another application?
What version of the Oracle client software is installed?
When does the error occur - when launching Crystal Reports or when running a report thats trying to access the Oracle database?
If you have Win95/98/NT, that's the reason why
I don't understand kafun's response. I think with some more details we can figure out the cause.

thanks kafun, but that's not the problem :)

David, i'm running on win95. however, i have no problems with
a dozen or so other pc's using the identical reports.
the error occurs when running the reports to access oracle.
it would prompt database to use , then username and password.
so after entering all these, that's when the error occurs.
oracle client ver: 7.2.2.0.1

this particular pc had some network adapter problem, so when
i fixed that, the sql*net portion was not working. so i reinstalled that. then of course, i reinstalled the crystal reports. now that fails too.

i tried deleteing them, scandisk, defrag, then reinstalling again, that fails too !
Things seem a bit odd - a bad network adapter shouldn't effect previously installed software. I'll let someone else take a shot at helping you because I think the best thing to do is to format, re-install Win95 and all the necessary applications.
