Cleaning Epsons Stylus Color 500

I did not use my printer for quiet a while and now my ink dried out. I changed the cartridge and made the cleaning several time. How can I clean it by myself, I don't want to send it to Epson.
Thank you very much.

*smiling* get some video or audio tape head cleaning fluid and some q-tips (cotton buds) and wet them with it, dab carefully at the dried ink with them, do not rub, that could cause damage, dry off with a dry q-tip keep dabbing at the print head until you are drawing ink out, if no luck still, go back to the tape head cleaner again. *smile*

hope that helps,

Road Warrior.

"Tape Head Cleaner" is mostly alcohol. 70% isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) will usually gut dried ink & is significantly cheaper than "Tape Head Cleaner"

If it's *REALLY* stubborn and RoadWarrior's method doesn't cut it, If you can get the print head out (usually there is a release), soak the business end of the print head in alcohol for a few minutes. 3rd level is ultrasonic cleaner with alcohol. 4th level is new printhead.

Sorry RoadWarrior, your method doesn't help. I solved it by using nail polish remover, which contains a lot of Acetone. This removes almost everything. I did it the way Mark2150 proposed it his second way.So thank you for your help RoadWarrior and please propose your comment as an answer Mark2150.
Thank you again.
