upgrade ram on my compaq presario 4526

I've got a Compaq presario 4526.
Can i use any brand of ram to upgrade it?

I believe you need Proprietary Compaq RAM.
Call your nearest local Compaq dealer.

Here is some more info for you.

I got this from the Compaq Forum:

16MB SyncDRAM DIMM - 271433-001
 32MB SyncDRAM DIMM - 271434-001
(Contact Product Information at 800-345-1518 for availability and specifications)
I believe those are part numbers on the right.

The memory you need is 60ns non-propriety RAM this can be EDO or SDRAM and i believe this it is with tin lead contacts....

A maximun of 64MB of total memory for 16MB boards.
A maximun of 48MB of total memory for 32MB boards.

Whenever you ask Compaq about what sort of memory you can use, the answer will be COMPAQ!!!
