Sending email through perl

I am _VERY_ new to perl, and am wanting to have my web page
send an email to me when a user submits a form.  I want the user to enter his or her email address in an INPUT in the FORM on one page.  When the form is submitted to some file (let's call it, I want perl to email me at with the following syntax:

Subject: Email Address
Body:  Here is a new email address:  /* print the email address that the user entered back on the form */

Like I said, I am really new to this, so I need a good explanation and code.  Pseudocode won't do it!  Thanks!

Matt Kruse's mailer.cgi, one of his skillions of freely-distributed scripts, was (a) what I originally borrowed and modified to do exactly what you want to do, and (b) the starting point for how I taught myself how to use Sendmail in other ways.

The last email address I saw for Matt was A web search on Perl will take you to archives containing his scripts -- and probably to a site of his own where this and other scripts will be available. Best use of that script though: use it to teach yourself how to use Sendmail with Perl scripts.
