I also would like to know if I can use an internal cd as an external drive? I will make a housing for it if I can use it.

What you need is a PCMCIA interface portable external CD ROM. All cables and software are included with such drives. You could also use an internal scsi type cd rom, if you buy a scsi pcmcia card. Again the pcmcia card includes all cables. With the scsi drive you would need a power adapter. Ide internal drives do not exactly match pcmcia devices, and therefore are not practical. The pcmcia cd is the simplest solution.
