I can't seem to get MacOS 8.1 to use less than 22mB of RAM. I've disabled everything unusual. Isn't 22mB a bit over the top? What could be using it all up? I have a 7220/200PC with 64 mB RAM.

This is a great amount of memory. I use OS 8.1 with many extensions and it needs only 13MB of memory. Check in your Memory settings how big is the size of your volume-cache. More than 4MB is useless. What extensions do you have installed?

I have 8.1 and it also uses a lot of RAM.  I think the more RAM you have, the more the system uses--kind of like how the allocation blocks of hard drives get bigger with the size of the drive.  The RAM usage of my system increased by 1/3 when I went from 48mb RAM to 104mb RAM
