Secure transactions

How do I ensure that data from a submitted form on my website can not be intercepted on it’s way to me?
It currently goes via a cgi script that formats the data, and then from the cgi script to me using email,
I don’t know how to program a cgi script, but I if using cgi is the only way to do it, I could learn.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Depends on what kind of webserver you running, if you run a webserver with SSL you get more security when the web browser talk to the server. normal web server data transfer can be interpertered. To see if your webserver is a secure one:
When you browse to your form, do you see a Lock under your web browser? if no, its not secure. goto http://www.apache-ssl.org/ and  to find out more..
E-mail can be tapped, so you better use a cgi which can send PGP encrypted mail to you to make ssure your e-amil can only be read by yourself. http://www.pgp.com/ has some document on how PGP works. A SSL sever cert will cost you but the PGP is free. so maybe you should consider put PGP protection on your e-mail first and see if you want to go for a secure server.
