avi decompressor

I download avi file from newsgroup and it's happen some time
 the file dont want to play thru vue print or my media player in windows. It's tell me that the vids:i263 decompressor is not found. I am on windows 3.1 version.

What is that vids:i263 decompressor

You can get a copy of the i.263 codec from

http://members.aol.com/SlavTrainr/STsPage.html

Unfortunately, it's not a 16 bit codec and won't work on Win3.1.  I don't know of any
i.263 codecs for Win3.1.

How does the point system work?

is there a way that i can convert the avi file asking for vids:i263 decompressor. I know that vue print can convert pix file from a format to anothere. Ex.: .JPG to .GIF  It is possible to do that with movie file. Is it is possible with what and where can i find it.
