detecting online presence?

i need to detect connection to internet and disconnection to internet
i need clear code, no third parties
make it start a timer object when detects online and stop it when disconnect appears

Check out Planet Source code http://www.planet-source-code/vb/

Do a search for Internet Connection and you will find a couple of hits.  The first one should be "IsConnected" which is a function that you can use to test to see if there is an Internet connection.
