HP LJ4L Printer w/a HP SJ 5100C Scanner

The 4L printer plugs into the scanner but I cannot print.  I must unplug the scanner and plug the printer directly into the port to use it and vice versa when I want to use the scanner.  And I do have a 1284 cable.  I called HP Help and they said to download a PCL driver from their website - however - all their drivers (for HP LJ4L) are for OS/2, DOS, or Windows 3.0 or 3.1.1.  I am running Windows 95.  Is there anything I can do to make both products work while connected together and without having to unplug/plug each device?  Thanks a million !

The reason you can't find a driver for 95 at the site is that 95 comes with the proper driver for the 4l on the 95 CD.

I checked the Microsoft page and the Service Pack 1 update seems like it may work.  It specifies LJ Series 4 and 5 printers that have known problems.  I'm going to try it and, hopefully, this will work.  Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction!  :)
You can only install service pack 1 if you have the retail version of 95 if you are running osr2 you will downgrade your system, please verify this before installing.

(How'd that post twice?  hmmm)  Yes, I have the retail version - thanks for pointing that out.  How do I close-out this problem?  This is my first time using this service...next time I'll do better with the points when I ask a question now that I know how it all works.  I felt the points needed to be increased for this question, so I did.  Thanks so much !
you have 2 chocies, have me post an answer and award the points or delete the question
Go ahead and post an answer and I'll accept it.  I posed the same question to HP and they couldn't help me (and it's their product!).  You were able to help and I appreciate that... thx
