My color ink cartridge ran out of ink a month ago. I just replaced it and it will not print anything in color. I did leave the old one in as the manual states, until I put a new one out. Are there resevoirs that could have dried up. Cleaning cycle does not help. I usually refill the cartridges myself and never have any problems. I figured I would buy a brand new epson cartridge and I would have no problems. I now have two brand new cartridges: one generic and one epson. Yes the label was pulled off the top of the cartridge b4 I installed it. I will say that when I installed the generic one a month ago,I forgot to tear off that label.  From what I read, this might ruin that particular cartridge, but thats all. Right now I am trying to print in color in Print Artist. I did pull out the black ink and ran only with the color. The card printed in black ink, so it used the ink from the color cartridge to make black. What gives. Option settings in properties are set to automatic.

Did you prime the ink cartridge?
Have you tried running the Priner utility to Clean the print heads.
That usually takes care of problems like that.

this is for ryan. The test page comes out with the flag colored in black. Does this mean the jets are ok ?

How do you prime an epson ink cartridge? According to directions, you just remove the yellow tape from the top of the cart. and run.I have replaced this cart many other times and never had this problem. Why when I run the win self test page does the flag that should be colored come out in blk. Is the color cartridge mixing to create the blk/ and if so why not the color. Can just the jets for the color be clogged ?

this is for ryan: The flag is definately filled in and I am using win98. I tried updating to the latest epson drivers sc222.e, but they do not install properly and I have to revert back to the old driver. Is there a generic driver that I could try to see if the color would print.
