I have used FrontPage98 for some months now..toghether
with access and PersonalWebServer and ASP pages.

I get the following error when starting an ASP page
  from an HTML-form.

  error 'ASP 0115'
  unexpected error
  /AspWeb/ASP/login.asp
a trappable error occured in an external object. The
  script cannot continue running.

the error is described in article ID: q173741
  (Microsoft.com)

The error occured after I tried to install a BETA 3 of
  the Microsoft SQL Server 7.0.

  I have now deinstalled SQL-Server, deinstalled FrontPage98
  and reinstalled FrontPage98.

Belive it or not I still get the same error message, and
are not able to run my ASP-Pages that tries to get records
  from an access DB.

the line in my ASP-page that actually triggers the error
  looks like this:

  rs.Open strSql, conn, 3, 3

I have contacted Microsoft..They can't help me and
tells me that I have to wait for a Patch for FrontPage98.

But....is there really not a work around for this problem?
  Any suggestions?

Yes.. I have done whats possible when it comes to the
follow up the suggestions in the mentioned article from
  microsoft.

When you have installed your SQL server 7.0 beta,

You are using ADO 2.0 ?, Yes

The OLE DB provider for ADO is probably set to the use the SQL Severs own OLE DB Provider.

Try forcing it to use the ODBC provider(universial, default with ADO 1.5) to access the DB.

It's done in the Open connection, and I belive it's done by specifying a PROVIDER= in the connection string.

Hope it helps

 Thank you for your response...
But can you please give me an example of how the syntax
look like when you use the PROVIDER keyword.
  I can't find any examples....
I will gladly increase to 150 Points if you can.

  here is my existing code:
    set conn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    conn.open "DSN=images","",""
    set rs = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
strSql = "Select * from customer"
    rs.Open strSql, conn, 3, 3

I haven't got the environment to test myself for the moment, but try something like:

"DSN=MyDatasource;UID=sa;PWD=secret;PROVIDER=MSDASQL;

I Just read something about this:

Cut and paste here it comes:

Use the Provider property to set or return the name of the provider for a connection. This property can also be set by the contents of ConnectionString property or the ConnectionString argument of the Open method; however, specifying a provider in more than one place while calling the Open method can have unpredictable results. If no provider is specified, the property will default to MSDASQL (Microsoft ODBC Provider for OLE DB).

:End cut and paste

You should as i understand it set the provider property on the
connection object direcly if you use the connectin several times.

 I can't make i work.
Anyway, your last Cut&Paste indicates that the
Provider property initially will be set to "MSDASQL"
...and that's what we want.. but it still does not work!!!

What you suggested did'nt work....
  But I found an article on Microsoft.com Article-ID: Q193310
describing the problem and how to fix.

I'm to get the URL to this fix from Microsoft.
I'm not closing this now because I want to give you the
information as well when I get it.

It might take a day or two.

Got the feedback from Microsoft after a lot of fuzz.
The zip file with the fix is called <<3002.23.zip>>.
After installing the provided dll's and registering them
  everything was working well.

Microsoft did not give me the URL where to find the file...
but if you don't find it please send me an E-mail to
                    krudtaa@yahoo.com
Then i will send the zip-file to you for eventual future use.

Please apply a dummy-answer so I can close it and give you
  the points.
  Thank you for trying...
