Error ASP 0115 - PWS

I had PWS & FP98 installed on a windows 95 machine and was hitting some access dbs through webpages. Everything was fine until I installed some Visual Studio 6 components. Now I get ASP error 0115 - trappable error - on my ASPs. I've seen fixes for this with IIS, but I'm running PWS. All of my ASPs do have data access, and the error seems to come because the Connection object is empty. ODBC, DLLs??? Thanks.

Error 0115 is generic in nature. It can be because of many reasons. Refer to microsoft's documentation for details.

Since you just installed VS6, I'd check and make sure you've installed that correctly. There are some server components you have to install, even on a client installation. Rerun the setup and be sure you've got the NT option pack installed - at least the Front Page 98 extensions, and the newer PWS that comes with VS6.
Select NT Option Pack Common Files and click the Install button. This launches the Microsoft Personal Web Server Setup.

When prompted to select Minimum, Typical, or Custom, select Custom. From the documentation:

When the list of components is displayed, select the following:
Common Program Files
Microsoft Data Access Components 1.5
Personal Web Server (PWS)
Transaction Server
Uncheck the remaining components. As you uncheck the other components, the wizard might display a message that warns you of various dependencies. You can choose Yes to ignore the dependencies because you are using this computer as a client for Visual InterDev, not as a server.

When you return to the Server Setups screen, select FrontPage 98 Server Extensions and click Install.

Continue with the remaining steps of the wizard.

Hope it helps.
