LILO boot

I have a IBM PC 300GL.
I have created a extend partition in which i have WIN NT.
the primary is linux partion  and is active

I am successfully in installing LINUX 5
But while installing boot loader I get a error .

I have selected both the partition for the boot loader file
but the errot is same.

Install NT on primary partition and then us rest of free space to install linux  use fdisk one when you install linux to make this primary 2 (you can have four primary) . then you can use lilo or stuff from nt to boot

I've heard that lilo and other bootloaders have trouble coexisting with NT's bootloader

Is there any reason that we should load Linux on primary partition not on extended

yes if you decide to go with both platform...just remember that NT was made to be egotistic. So it needs the master not the extenal....
