I use in an application the Command TAB for creating a new entry in a database. With 8.5 this KEY switches to the finder. How can I change the OS to turn this feature off.

you've got two options the way i see it...
1) disabled the Application Switcher extension in your extensions folder.  just move it out of the extensions folder or use the extensions manager to disable it.

2) download Prestisimo, a control panel that allows you to access several features of OS 8.5, including App Switching.  You can add modifier keys and/or change the key used to trigger the switch.  more info at http://www.polymorph.net/, or download at
