yo bryan,

RealVar := StrToFloat(Edit1.Text);

viceversa FloatToStr or FloatToStrF

Regards, Zif.

hi bryan7,

an other solution is to use the Val-Procedure

Val(Edit1.Text,RealVar,ErrorCode)
