How to open .wav and .gif files

I would like to open .wav and .gif files on a Mac that my PC friends have sent me. Does anyone have any suggestions?

wav and gif files are totally different. gifs can be viewed through netscape or adobe photoshop, wavs can be listened to through almost every sound application. you can try MacAmp, SoundApp, Sound Edit, Kaboom, Fusion Recorder, Sound Smith and many other programs. Personally, I like Kaboom best but all of them are good.

Since .wav is an audio file format and .gif is a web grafic format you need something to handle both. Since the model od Mac you're using isn't posted, I'll suggest the simple solution...install the very cool Quicktime3 on your machine , the sheer number of multimedia file formats it supports is astounding!!  Otherwise go the shareware route...Graphic Converter for the .gif and Sound converter for the .wav
