Choosing Fonts in WP 5.1
I am trying to help a friend out. He can't choose anything besides Arial fonts in WP 5.1 ( for windows ).
He inherited an old 386 from a friend. It runs Windows 3.1 and came with a copy of WP 5.1. He went out and bought a nice HP LaserJet color printer.
After much trouble ( wiping the hard drive & reinstalling everything ) we got WP 5.1 to accept the new print driver
( it was holding onto the old one the previous owner had ).
Even now when you go to File| Select Printer it will only work with the WP radio button checked.
The problem is his only font choices are Arial. He is computer semi-literate and my experience with win3.1 is limited.
Looking at some help files it said that to get other fonts we had to "choose a cartridge" by going to File|Select Printer and then choosing some option.
First time we tried this it didn't work. Then that option was disabled so we coldn't repeat our attempts.
Is there any way out of this. Can we make that old copy of WP 5.1 for windows use,display, and print Times New Roman fonts?

Your instructions didn't work. This is a windows version of wp, not the dos ( which was probally better). I did try them. Its not your fault. I just looked at his pc and it is wp 5.2 not 5.1. Mentioning "soft cartridge" fonts gave me the idea to try that in file|select printer| set up.
That worked well enough for me to get him about 4 more fonts
There werent really any choices beyond courier, gothic, times new roman, & university.
Are there more?
