-does this mesg keep on respawning to the console ?

-check with your administrator if anything goes wrong with this /usr/lib/saf/ttymon device file
which I believe is for the console port. (you can trace the cable from the console to the server. It
might be lose or something like that.

-if you wish to stop this mesg from respawning simply put the respawn status to off as following
     co:234:respawn:/usr/lib/saf/ttymon .........  to
     co:234:off:/usr/lib/saf/ttymon
 then run "telinit q"

-anyway, try to kill the session (ps -ef|grep console), put back to respawn status, run telinit q

- tell me the result.

The mesg does not keep respawning to the console.

I am not sure how to check whether the /usr/lib/saf/ttymon device file is giving problem.

I did "ps -ef|grep console" but did not get any process.

-login as root and run telinit q (this will re-examine /etc/inittab)
-then do a ps -ef|grep console (should see a process)
-by the way have you tried reboot your server ???

Will run telinit q shutdown or reboot the system ? I can't simply shutdown or reboot the system at anytime.

I have not tried to reboot my system, because I have to schedule a time for this. I am hoping to solve this problem without rebooting the system.
