HP DJ1600C Front Panel Lights?

My printer isn't working.  I've looked throught the user's guide and can't find the exact indications that I am getting.  Both the CHECK PAPER and CHECK PRINT CARTIDGE lights are on solid, not flashing.

This may be indicating a paper jam in the fusor.

In any case I would check the entire paper path for jams and ensure there is still toner left in the print cartridge.

Lights On (Steady)


                              1. Check the paper path.


                              2. Try this if the carriage is not stuck in the home position:


                                   a. Turn off the power.


                                   b. Move the carriage to the center.


                                   c. Turn the power back on.


                              3. Try the following if the carriage becomes stuck in the home
                              position:


                                   a. Turn off the power.


                                   b. Remove the cartridges.


                                   c. Move the carriage without the cartridges.


                                   d. Replace the cartridges.


                                   e. Move the carriage to the center.


                                   f. Turn the power back on.


                              4. Return for service.

Rwilson,  The DJ1600C is a color inkjet printer, otherwise you may be correct.

MoeTheCrow, good answer.

Dspawn, if MoeTheCrows answer doesn't help, the printer may think it is jammed due to dirty pickup rollers.  Contact HP and see if they will send you a DeskJet cleaning kit (if under warranty, it's usually free).

The kit contains a disk which makes the printer feed and reverse a treated page of paper (also included in the kit) through the printer to clean the pickup rollers.
