How do you install windows 98?  I've tried going through run and typing in install or setup and the results have been less than encouraging.

You have been trying to upgrade to Windows 98. You must have the Windows 98 Upgrade CD. This CD, when inserted into your PC, will automatically start you in the process, if not then run the autorun.inf file on the root of the CD. Perhaps you are using the Full Installation CD, which will only install if you don't have windows previously installed.

Just purchased Dell pc from old stock at work and  have tried installing windows 98 and got to the stage where serial number required. there are 25 digits required but I have only 20 digits ? The disk I may have loaded may not be for this number as disk was not in origanal cover. Can I delete and start again as I have a windows 95 in original cover with correct number.

Thanks,
Reno
