FTP HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have written a web page and am ready to upload it onto the net. I have got a copy of Cute FTP and have put in the correct details but when I try to connect I get told -"Cannot resolve host name" and it's really bugging me. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

What is the host name that you are trying to connect to?

make sure it is ftp.something.com on port 80 and that you have the righ username and password...  If it is for a "free" space on a server (ie geocities, angelfire, etc...) you will need to use their web based service... Most don't accept FTP transfers...

I have checked with a friend who is using the same service (freeserve) and he isn't having any problems at all. The data I enter into the FTP program is the same data as his but with my name and password??? When he enters my details from his computer it all works fine.....Could it be something to do with winsock.dll?? I read this in the trouble shooting guide but have a copy of my friends file and this still doesn't help.????
