DLL's in Unix

I have to simulate Win32 Functions LoadLibrary & FreeLibrary
in HP-UX.How to acheieve similar functionality provided by DLL's in Unix.Is there any need to call a routine(like Load library) for loading a shared library(As DLL) in unix.

Usually no, if to specified the dynamic shared library at link time.
The dynamic load module automatically loads the library at startup and maps the unresolved symbols from the executable.

Of corse, you may tell the linker not to do so, or you have not specified the appropriate libs at link time, then you must load the libs yourself using dl_load().

If you can please tell me few tips  the way shared library is implemented in HP-UX as compared to windows environment,as I am new to Unix environment.
