Pre-installed Win98,No Win 98CD,Still need fax
My computer came with Win98 and its own recovery disk with their own version of 98 so I can't find the tools\Oldwin95\Message\Us on theirs. Can I install Messaging and fax from a Win95 CD that came with a PC? I tried to install Winfax (not the 98 version) the faxes came out all garbled. Do I have to buy a fax program or the actual Win98CD? Is there another way. A less expensive way?

Do you awfax.exe or wms.exe or do you need both. Combined they are about 2.8 Gb so if you have an email that restricts the amount of data you may upload you maybe in trouble.

I'm not aware of any restrictions on my e-mail, but I definitely think it is worth a try. perkifried@earthlink.net. I so hope this works. Thanks for your speedy replies. From what I understand I need both Wms.exe and Awfax.exe. My fingers are crossed!!!

Wayneb, I hate to have to ask you this but my computer crashed and I had to rebuild my hard-drive and I lost what you had sent to me. I would appreciate it if you could do me this favor again and I promise to make a back-up this time. I really did appreciate your help. It seems people are still asking the same question still. What a problem the change caused and I am still not sure if it was worth the "new" version.

If I can perhaps use the Win95 CD then how? I was never able to find tools, awfax.exe, or Wms.exe files on the disk altough I was able to find Much of their content in Win95_06 &_07. But how so I put all those components together and have it make sense on my computer, or should I be able to find those specific files ?(tools, Awfax.exe, or Wms.exe) I'm not an expert...Yet. By the end of this search maybe. Also what about the whole Winfax thing do I have to have the 98 version to work with Win98?
