I have copied source of HTML file, applet file, then I have
compiled AudioItem.java with (JDK 1.1.7A) and the results are the same.   WHY ???

ok - this applet works with my browser ... (NN 4.07)

the applet code is fairly simple, you should have no problems
the only thing is that your browser should support JDK 1.1 classes.

check your browser version (get newer browser)
also you can try to see if it works with appletviewer (from JDK) -
just type
  appletviwer http://java.sun.com:8081/applets/other/AudioItem/index.html
on the command line

hope this helps
