Choose Colors/Set Pallet Transparency/(It may prompt you to reduce to 256 colors, do so, if not, you cannot have a tranparent color)/Then a popup box will appear(Set Pallete Transparency).  Move your mouse over the image.  an eyedropper will appear.  Click on the color that you want to make transparent.

Now, you must save this image as a "Compuserve Graphics Interchange Format (gif)" file.

You can click "proof" button on the popup to view the image with the transparency.
