Control Panel Display program does not open

I have W95, OS1.  

The current problem is that the Display program in the Control Panel does not do open when selected.  I reloaded W95 and have installed my PCI Cirrus 5345 video adapters.  It has prompted me that there are incompatabilties with this driver; but was not specific.

I  believe the problem is due to my unsuccessful attempt  to load MSNetwork and IE4.01 from a free CD I received in the mail.  Apparently this program has loaded newer versions of many resource files but has screwed up my video drivers.

I am not certain my MBR files were ever really fixed when I reformatted the C drive (which I have done twice), because the OS never accept the /MBR switch for the DOS command FORMAT C:

Is W95, OS1 the most current version?  Should I load any service packs?

  Go into control panel, system, device manager, remove the the driver, reboot and select a standard SVGA 800x600 driver (I've just checked - the 5345 adapter isn't supported).
  Or a higher resolution, depending what you want.
  You won't get full functionality, but at least it's better than VGA !
