CSS1 font name

What is the font name for the Microsoft font "MS sans-serif"?
I've tried using
#text {font: sans-serif;}
but this does not give an identical font to the Microsoft font.
Using IE4, Windows95.

the name is:
MS Sans Serif 8,10,12,14,18,24

Just like it is displayed in the FONTS applet in the Control Panel.
