Problems with Delphi Context Sensitive Help.

Hi Guys,

Since a few months, our company bought 5 Delphi Client/Server licences, which were installed without a problem, and wich were working perfectly.

Yesterday, 2 of our programmers received a brand new, more powerfull PC, which were installed from scratch.  After installing Delphi on those 2 PC's, we noticed something very strange.

Apparently the context-sensitive help isn't working.  Delphi doesn't seem to find the Help files which are assosiated to it.  This is very strange, because the help files are on the hard disk, and in the same directory as they were on the old PC's (C:\Program Files\Borland\Delphi 3\Help\).

We are using Windows NT as our operating system and network (with Service Pack 3 installed on it).  First we thought that it was a problem with the type of PC, but since we have 2 different PC's and the problem occurs on both PC's, I don't think that is what causing it.  Since the PC's have been installed from scratch, we cant seem to find out what is causing our problem.

If anybody has some hints for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot in advance,

What happens exactly if you e.g. position the cursor the the word "TBitmap" and press F1? Tell us: which windows with which text are displayed?
Just a try: Look in the registry. Is there a key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Help\Delphi3.hlp" with the value "c:\program files\borland\delphi 3\help" ?

Regards, Madshi.

Hi Madshi,

When I place a TEdit componenet on my form, select it and press F1, I get the message :

"Cannot Find the delphi3.hlp file do you want to try to find this file yourself ?"

When I select yes, I pick the file from the Delphi/Help directory, and I see the helpfile being opened on the TEdit component page, and i get the message : "Cannot Find the delphi3.hlp file do you want to try to find this file yourself ?" again.  I say yes again, select the help file, and I get the "Welcom to Delphi Help" page.

If now I place a second component on my form and do the same thing, I get exactly the same message again.

If I klick on the no button when the computer asks me to find the File myself, I get the message : "Cannot Find the delphi3.hlp Help file. Check to see if the file exists on your disk, if it doesn't, you need to reinstall it."  Though the file is in my C:\Program Files\Borland\Delphi 3\Help directory.

I didn't have that problem on my old PC, and everything is installed in the same way (same setup type and also to the same default directory).

The Key Value you are refering too in the registry doesn't exist.  Should I try to enter it Manually ?

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

Hi Madshi,

I added the registry key, and it works perfectly no.  If you would rephrase you comment as an answer, I would be pleased to reward you with the points.

Thanks a lot.

Greetings and best regards,
