I've created a chat program that works great when I loop it back to myself using winsock, it also works great over an internet connection to an IP #.  However when I have my computer LANed up with another through our network cards, it doesent detect their IP or host name.  Ive tried specifiying one on their network properties and it still doesnt work.  Any help would be appreciated.  By the way the network isnt the problem because I see the other person fine in my network neighborhook.

Win95
Thanks

Network neighborhood don't help you because it uses netbios, not tcpip.

Try pinging the other computer. It works like this: "ping XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX" (Where XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX is the ip). If you get "Destination host unreachable" or "Request timed out" then there is something wrong in your tcpip serup on one of the computers.

Try checking if both computers got tcpip installed, and that the ip adresses are assigned to both computer (They should be different). Also check that your network mask matches your selected ip adresses.
