email attachments

When I attach a JPEG file to email,  it is received with a .mim extension. The file cannot be opened by email recipient.  I receive JPEG files with no problem.

This means it has been sent as a MIME encoded attachment. You should be able to set your email client not to encode attachments as MIME attachments. This should fix it for you.
