Using an unsigned applet I would like to open a file on the computer that applet loads. I tried to change the browser proprieties but it didn't work. So, my question is: How to open this file passing the security problems.
Thanks!

you can't open file on the local file system from unsigned applet if that applet is loaded from remote computer. (these are general security restrictions)
if you load applet from the local computer most probably it will be possible.

most of the time you shouldn't have any problems - just use the standard java.io package
if you have some problems, please post the code, the exact error code and the platform (browser + version) you work with.

you'd better post the code here, because future users may be interested in this question (and pay some points to see the answer)

Also, please post a small, isolated example that we can compile and test (don't forget to include your browser version)

if the example is too big - you can e-mail me at heyhey@nettaxi.com
