well, what's the maximum number of characters you can send with a get-request? 256 or 1024

and is there any max for post?

In the http protocol, the size is not limited to a certain value.  However, the server implemetation normally has its limit on the size of get, generally it is quite safe to limit the size of the request line under 1K (because of url encoding, the real data size is smaller).

POST should not have any restriction.
